My dad came to visit me while I was living in England and together we traveled to Paris to stay for a few days. We took the chunnel from Dover, which was a little bit nerve-racking, all the way to Paris. Our hotel was a bit on the outskirts (great way to save money, by the way--stay on the outskirts of a city and commute every day), but it was really nice and quaint. I feel like the whole few days we were there was just a whirlwind. There's sooo much to do and see, we were just rushing around constantly. I really don't like traveling like that, but I knew my dad would be leaving soon and I wanted him to see everything he could possible see before he left. So, we very quickly went to the Notre Dame cathedral, to the catecombs (awesome!), the louvre (bring your walking shoes, this is HUGE), the arc du triumph, ate some crepes, and enjoyed coffee and little cafes. And of course, the Eiffel Tower, which is just as jaw-dropping as people say it is. It's simply amazing, and pictures don't do it justice. I would be lying if I didn't say we experience some hostility from the locals, which I hadn't experienced yet traveling in Europe. I think the French tend to like to keep to themselves and their own friends and family. Occasionally we'd talk to a really outgoing, friendly one though, especially at our hotel outside of the city.
