Rome

For Rome, Italy, the above picture says it all. For every beautiful, historical, interesting, or delicious thing in Rome... there were about 200 people. This really, really had an effect on my happiness in Rome! Everywhere we went was just swarming with tourists. I'm not sure if this was because of the time of year we went (April) or if it was just because the weather was so nice. If it is always as crazy in Rome, wow, I can't imagine what it must be like for the locals.

Honestly, I wish we would have skipped out on Rome. The Colloseum was cool; had to stand in line 1 hour to get in. Vatican City was beautiful; just like the pictures. The best thing about Rome was the gelato... but after I ordered one priced at 4 euros, the lady made me one worth 15 euros, and charged me that with a smile on her face, all while responding to my protests with "no english!"

Also, while walking to our hostel from the bus stop (in the ghetto), we were chased by wild dogs.

Perhaps others have had lovely experiences in Rome, but I certainly wouldn't want to return. On all my travels, it was my least favorite. Now, other parts of Italy, that's a different story! =)

  1. Hey Jessica!
Im sorry to hear about your experience in Roma. I am currently living here and wish that you could have experienced its other side. Like all major cities it has its areas that are tourist traps, but there are also so many beautiful things about it. I think you should definitely give it another chance!
